Mixed media on canvas, 2026

The rooster is the loud one. Confident, stubborn, and completely unconcerned with whether anyone agrees with him, especially the pig. He's based on an old sailor tattoo that was meant to bring good luck and safe passage.

These paintings started with an old sailor superstition. Sailors would tattoo a rooster on one foot and a pig on the other, believing they'd help them survive a shipwreck and find their way home.

I'm not particularly superstitious, but I liked the idea.

Let's be honest, everyone is trying to survive something. These paintings are for that. A little luck. A little strength. And the reminder that no matter how far out you feel, you'll eventually find your way back to shore.
