Mixed media on canvas, 2026
Unlike the rooster, the pig is calmer. Less interested in making a scene. He's based on the same sailor tradition, but feels more grounded to me. Steady, practical, and unbothered by the noise.
These paintings started with an old sailor superstition. Sailors would tattoo a rooster on one foot and a pig on the other, believing they'd help them survive a shipwreck and find their way home.
I'm not particularly superstitious, but I liked the idea.
Let's be honest, everyone is trying to survive something. These paintings are for that. A little luck. A little strength. And the reminder that no matter how far out you feel, you'll eventually find your way back to shore.
